
Nancy Landry is an award-winning small businesswoman and legislator. She is a recognized leader on education, and issues facing Louisiana families and children.
Nancy Landry was born on a US military base overseas. Her father was in the Navy, stationed abroad. Nancy grew up in Lafayette. She graduated from Lafayette High with Honors in 1980. Nancy graduated from LSU in 1985 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology. Nancy then graduated from LSU Law School in 1990. Nancy is mother to two grown sons. One is in college at LSU. The other is a recent college graduate who works at Google.
Over the last 26 years, Nancy Landry has worked to help the people of Louisiana as a legislator and an attorney. She pioneered a new form of family law practice in the state to help low income families and individuals handle their legal issues at lower cost. She also serves clients in the oil and gas industry, providing professional land and real estate services. Nancy is personally and professionally committed to a safer, more prosperous future for our state.
Nancy is serving in her third and final term in the Louisiana House of Representatives. She presently serves as chair of the House Education Committee. Previously, Nancy served as vice chair of the House Civil Law and Procedure Committee. She also served as a member of the House and Governmental Affairs Committee during the 2010 redistricting and reapportionment process. That plan, for the first time in Louisiana's history, was accepted without exception by the US Department of Justice. Recognizing her hard work in the redistricting process, the Louisiana Supreme Court appointed her to serve on the committee tasked with the foundation work involved in redistricting the courts.
Nancy is a member of the Republican Caucus, the Acadiana Delegation, the Rural Caucus, the Legislative Women’s Caucus, and the Louisiana Innovation Council. She also serves on the Southern Regional Education Board.
